What is the Gates and Melinda Scholarship?
This scholarship is awarded twice a year, with the upcoming round for the 2020-2021 academic year will accept applications for Spring 2021 starting November 1, 2019.

Eligibility Requirements for the Gates & Melinda Scholarship
You’re from at least one of the following ethnicities: African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic American
Applicant must be a US citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada.
Applicant should be in grade 11 or 12, planning on enrolling in an undergraduate program in a university in the United States, Canada, or Mexico beginning in Fall 2022.
Applicant should have demonstrated leadership ability, a strong record of academic achievement and participation in community service activities.
The scholarship is open to international applicants and current students in high school who have completed their freshman year or have an equivalent academic level.
Applicants who are under 16 years old are not eligible, unless they are about to graduate from 9th grade in the spring of 2020. All those who hold citizenship other than German, Korean, or American will be reviewed on a case-per-case basis by evaluating prior work experience and motivation to study in Germany at FHDW University and Candidates will be interviewed by the Department of German Studies to evaluate their knowledge and understanding of German language and culture as well as their interest in studying at FHDW.

Your name, address, gender, and birthdate.
Your parents’ names (if applicable).
The name of your high school or GED program.
Your high school’s address.
The name of your college or university.
How much your tuition costs each year.
How much money you have in savings.
What your GPA is and what classes you’re taking.
You will also need to provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher and an essay about why you believe you should win the scholarship.
